Industry Best Practice
playing our part in the industry
At UniMed it is important that we act responsibly for our members and participate in industry bodies.
Insurance and Financial Services Ombudsman
UniMed is a participant in the Insurance and Financial Services Ombudsman scheme.
As a member of UniMed, if you are unhappy with a decision we have made on your policy you should first follow our Complaints Process. If, at the end of that process, you remain unhappy, you are able to request a Letter of Deadlock to access the IFSO ombudsman services free of charge.
You can read more about the IFSO at their website.
Health Funds Association of New Zealand
UniMed participates in the health insurance industry body, Health Funds Association of New Zealand, and our CEO, Dermot Martin, is active on the HFANZ Board.
HFANZ carries out research and advocacy on behalf of the health insurers it represents, sets out standards which participants must meet, and manages the Integrity Registry operated by health insurers. The Integrity Registry is a register set up to detect, monitor and reduce suspicious and fraudulent activity.
